PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro received funding from the bequest of the late Mabel D. Smith in 1993 for the purpose of various facility improvements/expansions at Smith Fairview Senior Center. A budget amendment needs to be approved by the City Council to permit the expenditure of the remaining $69,648 for facility improvements. The attached ordinance serves to amend the General Fund budget.
BACKGROUND:
In June 1993, the last will and testament of the late Mabel D. Smith left $100,000 to the City of Greensboro for the purpose of funding various improvements/expansions at the Smith Fairview Senior Center. Over the years, funds have been requested by ordinance amending the P&R budget to use these funds for the purpose noted above. This ordinance will re-appropriate the remaining $69,648 to be used in conjunction with existing bond funding to allow for the continuation of improvements at the facility to include renovation and upgrades to the restroom/changing rooms, accessibility improvements to building entrance, fitness equipment upgrades, and paving of the center's parking lot.
BUDGET IMPACT:
This ordinance will increase the General Projects Capital Fund budget by appropriating $69,648 of donated funds from fund balance and setting them up in the appropriate account for FY 14-15.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is requested and recommended that the City Council adopt the attached budget ordinance amending the General Fund budget for FY 14-15.
