PURPOSE:
The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department has received a reimbursement grant from the Piedmont Triad Regional Council Area Agency on Aging, in the amount of $10,878 to support senior programming. To accept this reimbursement grant, a budget amendment is requested from Greensboro City Council in accordance with current city fiscal procedures.

BACKGROUND:
The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department has entered into an agreement with the Piedmont Triad Regional Council Area Agency on Aging to provide and enhance services for the senior residents within the City of Greensboro. The Piedmont Triad Regional Council Area Agency on Aging is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and coordinating aging services for seven counties in the Piedmont Triad (Alamance, Caswell, Davidson, Guilford, Montgomery, Randolph, and Rockingham). The agency is organized to identify and support State area agencies who qualify for funding through the Federal Older American's Act (OAA) and provides services to the elderly.

The Piedmont Triad Regional Council Area Agency on Aging has agreed to reimburse the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department for expenses occurred with providing improved service for senior citizens up to a maximum of $10,878 for fiscal year 2016-17. In order to receive the funds, the City of Greensboro is required to provide a match of 25% of the value of the project (i.e., $3,626). The total grant project is valued at $14,504.
