PURPOSE:
The Greensboro Police Foundation is a non-profit entity that works to support the needs of the Greensboro Police Department (GPD) when funding falls short. The Greensboro Police Foundation wishes to donate $1,338 to GPD so the department may purchase equipment for its Vice/Narcotics Division. A budget ordinance needs to be approved by City Council in order to accept these funds.
BACKGROUND:
The Greensboro Police Foundation is designed to promote excellence in the police department by providing resources not otherwise available from traditional sources. Furthermore, the foundation hopes to support programs, initiatives and projects that are strategically focused to complement the department's policing strategies. The Foundation will provide grants and donations such as this to purchase equipment, provide specialized training, encourage professional development, recognize employee valor, promote wellness, engage consultants and perform independent studies and program evaluations.
The Police Department will use the funds to purchase additional equipment for its Vice/Narcotics Division to assist in the investigation of criminal activity.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The Greensboro Police Foundation wishes to donate $1,338 to be used by the Greensboro Police Department to purchase additional equipment for its Vice/Narcotics Division. A budget ordinance is required to appropriate these funds. The funds will be house in account # 220-3506-01.
