PURPOSE:
The Department of Water Resources is requesting City Council approval for a sewer line extension from an existing East Fork Deep River outfall approximately 2,173 lineal feet to 1138 Pleasant Ridge Road. City Council shall hold a Public Hearing to consider any property owners objections to the legality of authorizing the assessable sewer line improvement project in compliance with City Charter Section 6.140.
BACKGROUND:
The Guilford County Department of Public Health has determined that a septic tank located within the City limits at 1138 Pleasant Ridge Road has failed and is recommending that the owners connect to the City's sewer system as soon as possible. The County will not issue the property owners repair/replace permits. In order to provide sewer service to the property at 1138 Pleasant Ridge Road, the City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is proposing to extend an 8-inch sewer main 2,173 linear feet.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The estimated construction cost of this project is $204,211. The properties at 1137 and 1138 Pleasant Ridge Road will be assessed at $16.00 per front foot for the sewer line as allowed by City Charter Section 6.131. All other properties will not be assessed due to existing sewer service. The projected recovery through assessments levied against the adjoining properties is approximately $14,666. Funding for the project is budgeted in the Water Resources Capital Improvements fund in account 503-7024-02.6017 Activity A15039.
