PURPOSE:
City Council approval is requested for a Utility Reimbursement Agreement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to cover the cost associated with the construction of a new water distribution line. NCDOT is relocating a section of McLeansville Road from Birch Creek Road to Frieden Church Road and as part of the project NCDOT will install a new finished water line along McLeansville Road from Frieden Church Road to Birch Creek Road. Installation of the new water line supports the Department's capital improvement program and master planning efforts to provide future system expansion and improve distribution system water quality.
BACKGROUND:
NCDOT has prepared and adopted plans to make certain street and highway improvements under project P-5204, Guilford County, for roadway relocation of McLeansville Road from Birch Creek Road to Frieden Church Road. Water Resources would like NCDOT to install a new water line along McLeansville Road and Frieden Church Road to improve water quality and support future development. The estimated cost to the City for installing the proposed water line is $416,000.00. A utility reimbursement agreement between NCDOT and the City has been prepared to cover this work.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds are budgeted in Water Resources Capital Projects account 503-7023-01.6016 A14039 in the amount of $416,000.00 for water betterments. A budget adjustment is needed to use this account.
