PURPOSE:
The North Carolina Solar Center at North Carolina State University awarded the Greensboro Police Department a Clean Fuel Advanced Technology (CFAT) project grant. An amendment (funding increase) was made to the project budget by the funding agency after the original budget ordinance was approved by City Council. A budget ordinance needs to be approved by City Council in order to accept these additional grant funds.
BACKGROUND:
The North Carolina Solar Center (NCSC) at North Carolina State University awarded the Greensboro Police Department grant funds and the budget ordinance was adopted on July 15, 2014. The NCSC then amended the project budget.
Total project costs now equal $42,748, an increase of $1,198. The total grant budget of $27,941 is calculated based on the difference between the proposed electric motorcycles and a comparable conventional vehicle; however, it does not include baseline vehicle costs of $14,807.
BUDGET IMPACT:
On July 15, 2014, City Council adopted a budget for the CFAT grant in the amount of $41,550. The grantor increased the project budget within the grant agreement. Additional grant funds and NC State Excise Drug Tax funds have been identified to match the new project budget. The funds will be housed in #220-3549-01.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is requested and recommended that the City Council adopt the attached budget ordinance for additional funds for a Clean Fuel Advanced Technology Grant FY 14 in the amount of $1,198.
