PURPOSE:
Annual maintenance is necessary in order to keep the Guilford Metro 911 emergency telephone system operational and up to date. The cost of the proposed annual maintenance agreement exceeds $100,000 dollars and therefore requires City Council approval. The proposed maintenance agreement is known as an evergreen agreement which will continue indefinitely until terminated by the City.
BACKGROUND:
The maintenance agreement between the City of Greensboro and Century Link to provide annual 911 phone system maintenance services will terminate soon. The Guilford Metro 911 computerized phone system requires ongoing monthly maintenance services. Full coverage maintenance for West Viper 911 phone system equipment, Sentry monitoring, software protection and remote technical support is needed for two locations located at 1903 Midway Street, Greensboro, NC 27403 and 1002 Meadowood Street, Greensboro, NC 27409. City staff solicited quotes from the small group of companies that perform the specialized 911 phone system maintenance services. Frontier Communications of America, Inc. submitted the lowest, responsible bid for the annual 911 phone system maintenance services.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Annual cost is approximately $128,102 excluding taxes, surcharges and fees.
