PURPOSE:
The Industries of the Blind wishes to donate 10 rescue tactical drag straps to the Greensboro Police Department. The Industries of the Blind's Product Development Team, in coordination with the Greensboro Police Special Response Team, has created the straps as a way to honor members of the Greensboro Police Department. A resolution is requested to be approved by City Council to accept the donation.
BACKGROUND:
The Industries of the Blind's Product Development team worked with the Greensboro Police Special Response Team to develop the rescue tactical drag straps. A rescue tactical drag strap is a device which is used to help move an officer or other person who may be injured during a tactical operation. The Industries of the Blind would like to donate 10 such straps to the department.
BUDGET IMPACT:
This requested action will have no adverse impact on the City of Greensboro budget. No funds will be exchanged. Without the donation, the police department budget would be responsible for the expenses, estimated value of $150.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The attached resolution accepting a donation for the Greensboro Police Department's Special Response Team is recommended to Council for approval.
