PURPOSE:
Volkert, Inc. was selected to provide design services for the Structural Assessment, Plan Development, and Construction Inspections for the Rehabilitation of the Eugene Street Bridge #400500 Project in the amount of $500,000.00.

BACKGROUND:
The City of Greensboro desires to rehabilitate Bridge #400500, built in 1976, located on Eugene Street over the Norfolk Southern Railroad. The purpose and need of the project is to rehabilitate the existing structurally deficient bridge to meet current standards and extends its service life. Repairs may include, but are not limited to: rehabilitation of concrete deck through hydro-demolition and resurfacing with latex modified concrete, cleaning and painting of beams and bearings, plating and replacement of failed beam sections, and concrete repair(s) to substructure and superstructure.

Our twelve on-call professional services firms were considered for this project. Prime consideration was given to their past experience and performance with projects involving highway structures, roadways, traffic analysis, landscaping, utility design, and public participation. As a result of the analysis by the Field Operations and Engineering & Inspections Departments, Volkert, Inc. was selected for the project.

Volkert, Inc. anticipates a minimum MWBE participation of 5.1% as part of Phase 2 (design) and Phase 3 (construction inspection).
