PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro received funding in the amount of $397,000 from the Federal Transit Administration for the purchase of bus shelters and staff support vehicles. The local match amount needs to be increased by $250.00 to meet the 20% matching requirement. A budget ordinance is required for this change.
BACKGROUND:
At the April 16, 2013 meeting, City Council approved a budget ordinance establishing FFY 2010 Section 5307 Federal Transit Administration Surface Transportation Program Grant funding in the amount of $397,000 and a local match of $99,000 to total $496,000. This grant was used to purchase twenty new bus shelters and four staff support vehicles used by supervisors to perform on street service monitoring for both the fixed route and paratransit services. When the budget was originally approved, there was an error in calculating the local matching requirement, leaving the matching funds short by $250. The attached ordinance is necessary in order to correct the error in the local matching requirement.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Additional matching funds in the amount of $250 will come from 564-4531-01.6565. Total funding for this grant will be as follows:

$99,250 (20%) Local Match
$496,250
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Department of Transportation recommends and requests that the City Council approve the attached budget ordinance in the amount of $250 to ensure the matching funds requirement of the grant is met in full.
