PURPOSE:
City Council is requested to approve execution of Amendment #2 for Project P04930 to the amend the professional design services for Barber Park Master Plan Phase 2 with Shermin Ata, Architect, PLLC of Greensboro, North Carolina.
BACKGROUND:
This request originated as part of the professional services provided by Shermin Ata, Architect, PLLC, for the Barber Park Master Plan Phase 2 Project, which includes the designs of the new Barber Park Maintenance Building and the new Community and Women's Memorial Building with site upgrades. Prior to the project being delayed due to funding availability in 2010, portions of the design for the master plan, including partial building designs, were completed. As a result of the delay, the scope of the amendment includes completion of the foundation design changes for the Barber Park Maintenance Building due to soil conditions, building and other structural code updates to the overall project and an updated project schedule. A more detailed description of the work for this amendment is addressed in the proposal letter dated September 12, 2014 from Shermin Ata, Architect, PLLC and included as "Attachment A." The letter indicates the additional tasks to have this project design completed and ready for the construction phase in Spring 2015.
Shermin Ata, Architect, PLLC is requesting an amendment to be added to the contract in the total of amount of $64,315.00 for the design completion.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The Parks & Recreation Department plans to fund the additional project costs in the amount of (Sixty Four Thousand Three Hundred Fifteen Dollars) $64,315.00 using funds in account number 472-5008-01.5410. Upon approval of this Amendment request the total contract amount will be in the amount of $317,895.00.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
Parks & Recreation Department and the Engineering & Inspections Department requests for City Council to approve the contract extension amendment with Shermin Ata, Architect, PLLC in the amount of (Sixty Four Thousand Three Hundred Fifteen Dollars) $64,315.00 for the amended professional services for the Barber Park Master Plan Phase 2 project.
