PURPOSE:
Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. was selected to provide design services for the Eugene Street and Bellemeade Street Streetscape Design Project in the amount of $464,795.00.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Greensboro desires to design construction plans along Eugene Street and Bellemeade Street. On the east side of Eugene Street, the streetscape will extend north from the residential development project to Smith Street; on the west side of Eugene Street, the streetscape will extend the full block from Smith Street south to Bellemeade Street. On the south side of Bellemeade Street, the streetscape will extend the full block from Eugene Street to Greene Street; on the north side of Bellemeade Street, the streetscape will extend from the residential development project east to Greene Street. The scope of the streetscape will also complement the streetscape associated with the residential development project (by others) on the northeast corner of Eugene and Bellemeade Streets. The design is to include: roadway and hydraulic engineering, landscape architecture, and the replacement of water mains in Eugene and Bellemeade Streets.
Our twelve on-call professional services firms were considered for this project. Prime consideration was given to their past experience and performance with projects involving streetscape work, sidewalks, roadway configuration, traffic analysis, landscaping, utility design, and public participation. As a result of the analysis by the Transportation and Engineering & Inspections Departments, Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. was selected for the project.
Kimley-Horn and Associates is committed to MWBE utilitization. This work is to be WBE 3.4% by Kennerly Engineering & Design, Inc. and MBE 5.0% by Davenport World, Inc.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding for this project will come from 2016 bond fund account 484-2201-04.5410. A budget adjustment is required to move funds to the correct account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Transportation and Engineering & Inspections Departments recommend and request City Council approval for the contract award of the Eugene Street and Bellemeade Street Streetscape Design Project to Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. in the amount of $464,795.00.
