PURPOSE:
The Greensboro Coliseum has been awarded a $38,561 Special Events, Tourism and Tourism Related Activities Committee (SETRAC) grant from the Greensboro Convention and Visitors Bureau for the purchase of Preferred Diving Dryland Equipment, Omega Touchpad System, and a Tent for Vendor Area for use while hosting State, Local and National Swimming and Diving events. To accept this grant, a budget ordinance is requested for approval from Greensboro City Council in accordance with current city fiscal procedures.
BACKGROUND:
The SETRAC grant program exists to stimulate and assist Greensboro/Guilford County organizations and agencies in the enhancement, promotion, and marketing of tourism and culturally related events and activities.
The objective of the program is to give greater scope to innovative ideas and help organizations and agencies undertake activities that would not be considered without special funding. The SETRAC program is designed to assist in establishing activities and events which, because of their own merit, can eventually grow and succeed without financial assistance from this program.
The purchase of the Preferred Diving Dryland Equipment, Omega Touchpad System, and a Tent for Vendor Area will allow the Coliseum Complex to host regional and national swimming competitions in the Greensboro Aquatics Center.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The increased appropriation of the State, Federal and Other Grants Fund Budget for the SETRAC Grant from the Greensboro Convention and Visitors Bureau, in the amount of $38,561, is reflected in the attached ordinance.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
City Council is requested to approve the budget ordinance amending the State, Federal and Other Grants Fund Budget Ordinance.
