PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is requesting approval for annual subscription and maintenance contracts for the Sensus Network-as-a-Service to support the advanced metering infrastructure solution.
BACKGROUND:
After a competitive RFP process, Sensus USA, Inc. was chosen to implement their FlexNet Technology. This contract will establish a network-as-a-service in support of the City's chosen Advanced Metering Infrastructure solution. The Sensus solution also has effective analytical tools that can be used by our asset management group to perform water distribution analysis and help identify needed maintenance activities.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Annual funding is budgeted in Water Resources Operating Fund account 501-7012-01.5415. The cost is based on the number of meters on the network each year. 100% of the City's 108,500 meters will be covered by the network at the end of the implementation phase in three years. Pricing begins at $4.99 per meter per year, and the proposal calls for 3% cost escalations every five years. The annual cost at full implementation is estimated at approximately $550,000.
