PURPOSE:

The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department wishes to establish bond funding for the Water Resources Capital Project Revenue Bond Fund budget for the advanced metering infrastructure implementation project. Council approval is requested for a budget ordinance to permit the expenditure of funds.

BACKGROUND:

Sensus won a competitive RFP process with their network-as-a-service offering and their strong endpoint and meter warranty. They were chosen to implement their FlexNet Technology and will establish a network-as-a-service products and services agreement along with a statement of work to replace and retrofit approximately 108,500 water meters.

C2 Contractors, LLC was selected to provide services throughout the implementation of AMI including project management, quality control/quality assurance, technical guidance, and organizational change management.

Tonight, by a separate resolution, City Council is asked to approve the associated items for Advanced Metering Infrastructure Implementation.

BUDGET IMPACT:

This amendment will increase the Water Resources Bond Fund budget by $30,876,865 from revenue bond funding.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

It is recommended by the Water Resources Department that City Council adopt the budget ordinance to amend the Water Resources Capital Project Revenue Bond Fund Budget to establish funding for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure Implementation Project.
