PURPOSE:
City Council approval is requested for a change order to Contract 2013-094 for the Youngs Mill Road Sanitary Sewer Outfall. This change order for $1,250,000.00 is to account for additional work required to complete this outfall project.
BACKGROUND:
Contract 2013-094 in the amount of $15,122,106.06 was issued to Jimmy R. Lynch & Sons, Inc. on November 18, 2018 for the construction of the Youngs Mill Road Sanitary Sewer Outfall. During construction, unfavorable site conditions were discovered that resulted in additional construction costs. Additional costs were also incurred due to large amounts of unanticipated rock encountered during the installation of the outfall.
For the original contract amount, Jimmy R. Lynch & Sons, Inc. committed to 2.08% MBE participation and 3.59% WBE participation. Due to approved commitment changes during the course of this contract and the additional construction costs associated with this change order, MBE utilization decreased to 1.10% while the WBE utilization decreased to 1.29%.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds for this change order will come from the Water Resources Sewer Outfall account 516-7044-02.6019, CBR A19122 in the amount of $1,250,000.00.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Engineering & Inspections and Water Resources Departments recommend that City Council approve this change order for $1,250,000.00 for Contract 2013-094 to Jimmy R. Lynch & Sons, Inc.
